In an effort to continue our support for the St. Augustine Lighthouse, the Junior Service League hosts an annual 5K & Fun Run! This year marks the 42nd anniversary. The 5k starts at 8 a.m. and the one-mile Fun Run starts at 9 a.m.

The 46th Annual Matanzas 5000, Florida’s FASTEST 5K returns on Saturday, January 24th at 8:00 a.m.

Run this fast course through the scenic streets of historic St. Augustine with a chance to compete for cash prizes ($4,000 prize pool!) in multiple categories.

Since 1989, the Matanzas 5000 has raised and donated well over $300,000 to support youth running programs in St. Johns County. Proceeds benefit middle and high school track and cross-country teams, including the Florida School for the Deaf and Blind.

Help keep the beautiful beaches of St. Augustine clean! Join GTM Research Reserve on the fourth Saturday each month for a beach clean-up. Enjoy the beach while cleaning up marine debris and microplastics.

Plan to attend the largest BBQ event in Northeast Florida - Jimmy Jam’s BBQ Slam on January 10th.

Barbecue teams will compete for the best chicken, best ribs, best pork and best brisket.

This family-friendly event features not only the KCBS BBQ Competition, but other activities as well including a car show, cornhole competition, BBQ tastings during People’s Choice Awards, Paul Bunyan Lumberjack Show, live music, more than 60 local vendors, kids’ zone, food trucks, cold beer and drinks, a raffle and chili/chowder cook-off.

Every dollar raised by this non-profit event goes to support the philanthropic work of Jimmy Jam Community Outreach, a local organization rooted in giving and friendship.

The fireworks are shot off the St. Johns County Pier (350 A1A Beach Blvd.) in St. Augustine Beach, but there are multiple viewing locations to enjoy the show.
