Honor the nation's heroes on Thursday, July 2nd, at the St. Augustine National Cemetery. Hosted by the Maria Jefferson Chapter of the Daughters and Sons of the American Revolution, VFW Post 2341, Honor Guard Riders, Scouting America, and the Veterans Council of St. Johns County, this event is open to the public for anyone to show their respect for those who have served our country.

Throughout the weekend, from July 3 through July 5, 2026, you can visit the Castillo de San Marcos for free. If you visit on July 3, you can hear inspiring music reflecting the American Revolution and our country's history, as you learn more about this historic national monument.

The State of Florida created a museum celebrating Florida's history in honor of the U.S.A.'s 250th anniversary celebration. The truck will make a stop in all 67 Florida counties throughout 2026 with St. Johns County’s visit scheduled for July 4 in the parking lot of the Castillo de San Marco.

In honor of the 250th anniversary of the United States of America, St. Augustine City Walks is offering a new FREE tour: St. Augustine & the Birth of America Historic Walking Tour.
If you’re interested in learning more about the histories and untold stories of the American Revolutionary War in St. Augustine, then join St. Augustine City Walks for their FREE St Augustine & the Birth of America Historic Walking Tour.

Fourth of July Fireworks over Matanzas

Fireworks Over the Matanzas, the City of St. Augustine’s annual Independence Day celebration, returns July 4th starting at 6 pm with The All-Star Orchestra performing a two-hour concert in The Plaza de la Constitución, performing Big Band and popular tunes with a patriotic flare.
The 20-minute fireworks display will reach high over Matanzas Bay starting at 9 pm, choreographed to a stirring soundtrack of popular and patriotic music delivered over an extensive sound system. The entire Bayfront between the Castillo de San Marcos National Monument and the Bridge of Lions will be transformed into a theatre of sight and sound.

Liberty Tree Dedication

On July 18th, the City of St. Augustine Beach, Maria Jefferson Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and the St. Augustine Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution will host a Liberty Tree Marker Dedication at Lakeside Park.
With origins in Boston, MA, the Liberty Tree became a symbol for freedom and a rallying point where colonists gathered to plan an opposition to "taxation without representation." A tree at Lakeside Park will be dedicated as a memorial to those who took part in one of the first acts of defiance against the British government.
