On July 18th, the City of St. Augustine Beach, Maria Jefferson Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and the St. Augustine Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution will host a Liberty Tree Marker Dedication at Lakeside Park.
With origins in Boston, MA, the Liberty Tree became a symbol for freedom and a rallying point where colonists gathered to plan an opposition to "taxation without representation." A tree at Lakeside Park will be dedicated as a memorial to those who took part in one of the first acts of defiance against the British government.
All are welcome to this free event in celebration of America’s 250th!
